The Opportunity
We are seeking a creative digital native – a seasoned communications expert who is passionate about leveraging digital platforms to engage a range of stakeholders and tell our story. You’ll serve as a strategic advisor on digital communication trends and best practices, developing engaging content that helps advance Emera’s brand and strategy, monitoring social channels, and providing valuable insights across the organization.
As the Senior Communications Advisor, Brand & Digital Media, you will join the Corporate Affairs team, reporting to the Manager, Partnerships & Engagement. Your role will be focused on developing and leading social and digital media strategies to support business objectives. You will tap into your strong analytic skills by using data-driven insights to shape our digital footprint and measure results. Key elements of this role include:
CONTENT MANAGEMENT AND PRODUCTION
Responsible for the development and execution of Emera’s content strategy through digital communications channels.
Lead content production by ideating and developing digital content across owned communications channels, ensuring messaging is consistent and aligned with brand voice and corporate objectives.
Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal teams to support content needs, including our Operating Companies in Canada, US, and the Caribbean.
Support executive thought leadership strategy through digital channels and work closely with senior leadership to elevate their presence.
Oversee direction and production of video and photo content with external partners and at times, draft scripts and film senior leadership video messages.
Manage Emera website and update web content using CMS, ensuring all content aligns with brand voice and tone.
Manage Emera intranet as a channel for employee engagement.
Co-chair internal content planning meetings with subject matter experts to identify content opportunities across the business.
Monitor trends in digital media tools, applications, channels, and strategy.
BRAND & DESIGN COUNSEL
Serve as a brand ambassador, ensuring consistency and alignment across all digital touchpoints.
Support the growth and development of Emera’s brand, leading the creation of digital brand guidelines to ensure consistency and alignment across internal and external communications channels.
Ensure brand alignment amongst digital assets across our operating companies in Canada, US, and Caribbean through development of a brand playbook.
Collaborate with external designers and consultants on creation of graphics and visuals to support creative brand storytelling including corporate story video.
MEASUREMENT AND ANALYTICS
Monitor digital trends and analytics to optimize content performance and enhance audience engagement.
Lead quarterly analytics reporting dashboard for digital channels.
COMMUNITY MANAGEMENT AND MONITORING
Responsible for reporting and identifying issues and hot topics.
Monitor external channels and identify community management opportunities for engagement and audience growth.
Identify and escalate social media conversations, collaborating with fellow Corporate Affairs team to develop key messages and assess response.

Experienced in managing complex enterprise-wide projects with diverse stakeholders, with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
A strong understanding of the nuances of each social media channel with a focus on LinkedIn and executive thought leadership.
Sound judgement when handling challenging and sensitive issues.
Strategic mindset with the ability to align digital media approach with broader corporate goals and priorities.
Highly organized, with the ability to problem-solve, make decisions, and escalate to management when needed.
Understands the importance of analytics, with the ability to make data driven decisions as part of content planning process.
Experience managing content calendars, schedules, and deadlines to ensure timely and consistent delivery of content.
Experience in working with agency partners and/or cross functional teams in a complex corporate environment.
Education and Experience:
Undergraduate degree, or diploma, with a focus in communications, digital marketing, or related subject area.
A minimum of 7 years’ communications experience, including at least four years creating and executing successful social and digital media strategies for complex organization(s).
Demonstrated experience developing brand guidelines and ensuring consistency across all touchpoints.
Demonstrated relevant experience with focus on content creation, social media management, and social/digital monitoring, analysis, and reporting.
Direct experience leading the work of external vendors and working with cross functional teams.
Sound judgment in dealing with sensitive and/or confidential information is a must have.
Paid media and/or design skills would be considered an asset.
